New Trends in Panel Gluing

A state-of-the-art article indicating the immediate trends in panel gluing. Trends in new adhesives include a low-solid urea formaldehyde resin with catalyst added, specialty glues developed for splicing of veneer, and highly reactive glues kept at temperatures below 60?F. until they are spread on the wood and the wood is passed between heated plates. Other adhesives finding favor are fortified-urea glues, phenol glues, and dustless powered adhesives with catalysts. The need for training people in the use of adhesives and the need of further research are indicated.
