When operating kilns only during the work week (off over the weekend and nights) increased drying can be obtained during the shut-down periods by allowing the temperature to rise as high as it will during the last 4 or 5 hours on Fridays. At the same time, the wet bulb setting should be raised to give the same wet bulb depression as in the regular schedule for comparable dry bulb temperatures. Four-quarter cherry lost 6.9 percent moisture content, over the weekend, with the temperature on Friday rising to 177?F.
