Two types of metal truss connectors in four sizes installed in structural flakeboards were tested in tension. The structural flakeboards were of two types: a commercial three-layer oriented strandboard (OSB) made from 2-3/4-inch- (70 mm) long flakes of northern hardwood and an experimental, single layer, fully oriented board made from 1-5/8-inch- (40 mm) long Douglas-fir. The southern pine was No. 1 KD. The 2 by 4 and 2 by 6 plates showed higher ultimate loads in the flakeboards than the 3 by 4 and 3 by 3 plates. Plates with longer teeth had higher load values than plates with short teeth.
