Plaswood, New High Density Chipboard

Development, manufacture, uses and limitations of a new high density (42 pounds per cubic foot) chipboard are, described. It is produced in Canada. A urea adhesive is used in bonding wood particles together. Plaswood is made in four thicknesses–3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 inch and panel dimensions are 4 by 8 feet. It is readily adaptable as a laminated product in thicknesses up to 2 inches. The board may also be easily faced with tempered or untempered hardwood faces, wood veneers, plastic laminates, or virtually any other finished surface. The building trade consumes 60 percent of production, the furniture trade 25 percent and the remaining 15 percent by the small home owner.
