Portable System for Weighing Kiln Trucks

A portable hydraulic system for lifting and weighing kiln trucks of lumber is described. The system uses an electric pump and cylinders to lift against a lightweight carriage fabricated from I-beams and specially designed collars. The suggested use of the system is to weigh kiln charges before and after drying to determine the amount of water removed in the drying process. Such measures of work done in drying (pounds of water removed) are important for evaluating energy consumption at dry kiln.
