Author rates tests for determining the quality of glue bonds between wood as follows: block shear 15, tension shear 16, tension normal 15, cross-lapped 16, glueline cleavage 8, percent wood failure 17-1/2. Preference is indicated by a low rating. Preliminary tension normal tests and glueline cleavage tests gave a correlation coefficient of 0.977 for breaking loads of several fiberboards and a correlation coefficient of 0.896 for strength of hardboard gluelines. Three hardboards and two glues were represented.
