A procedure was developed for predicting the modulus of rupture (MOR) for southern yellow pine hardboard under different hot-press settings and humidification intensities. A system of three interrelated equations is used to predict. board density, maximum core temperature, and MOR. Managers can use this technique to help identify combinations of press temperature, cycle times, and moisture contents which produce boards with the desired levels of MOR.
