The newest dry kiln buildings are the insulated, aluminum-paneled, prefabricated kilns. The aluminum wall and roof panels are each built as a complete aluminum envelope with an insulated core and are vapor proof. The side walls are equivalent to 27 inches of common brick in insulating value. This type of kiln saves 50 percent of the steam normally lost in radiation through masonry walls; also, maintenance of the building is low. The cost of building is similar to masonry construction. The building can be dismantled and moved without loss, should a move become necessary. The life expectancy of this type of construction is indefinite. The cost of a given structure can be estimated very closely with this type of construction.
