The suitability of varying amounts of tree tops, branches, and needles as furnish for underlayment quality particleboard was investigated. A OF resin adhesive was used. Results indicate that up to 60 percent of all attached needles may be included while still satisfying commercial standards. Inclusion of more needles significantly reduces strength and stiffness properties. Inclusion of twigs had no significant effect.
