Low-density fiberboard panels (25 and 35 pcf, OD weight and volume) of two thicknesses (3/8 and 3/4 in.) were made from total-tree hardwood chips without encountering processing difficulties. Composites with cores of low-density fiberboards and southern pine veneer skins were made and the physical and mechanical properties determined. These composites have properties suitable for lightly-stressed furniture components. The 35-pcf (OD weight and volume) unveneered fiberboards had properties which warrant further study for potential furniture applications.
