Redwood Bark Fiber in Particleboard

Three-layer particleboards prepared from redwood particles including 0, 10, 20, and 30 percent redwood bark fiber were studied at urea resin levels of 7.6, 9.2, and 10.8 percent. In general, board performance became poorer as bark fiber content increased. At least part of this decline may be attributed to factors other than bark level. Among these are lack of uniformity of resin application at different bark levels and lack of uniformity in the blended furnish.
