The potential for using sequential soak treatments of sodium fluoride and copper sulfate was explored using ponderosa pine sapwood cubes. While copper and fluoride were readily sorbed by the wood, leaching tests revealed that virtually all of the fluoride and most of the copper leached from the wood. These results suggest that copper and fluoride do not interact in wood to form insoluble compounds and raise questions about the value of the fluoride treatment.
