Simple Formulas for Natural Frequencies and Critical Speeds of Circular Saws

The complexity of the calculations involved in computing circular saw natural frequencies and critical speeds has impeded the general adoption of the critical speed theory for practical sawblade design. This paper presents some simple correlation formulas to compute easily and quickly the natural frequencies and critical speeds of both collar and spline arbor saws. The effects of tensioning and saw guides are also discussed.
