Stacking Method for Long-Term Concentrated Load Testing of Floor Panels

Few data have been published on long-term deflection of full-size floor panels, partly because of the considerable space required for testing even a few sections. A stacking method is proposed here for applying concentrated loads to several floor panels at once. The method reduces the testing area needed for making such studies more practical. Simulated floor sections, 4 by 4 feet, are stacked so as to attain four-point loading on each section. In this trial, load points were 1 or 3 inches in diameter, with approximate loading of 200 pounds per load point.
