Specimens of three commercial particleboards were loaded in interlaminar shear at seven different stress levels from 90 to 60 percent of the static strength of controls. The regression equation relating stress level (SL) and time-to-failure (T), and calculated with SL as the independent variable is SL = 83.0 – 8.1 log10 T. Similar particleboards loaded in tension gave SL = 84.8 – 8.3 log10 T. Differences between these two equations were not statistically significant. The overall stress-rupture performance of particleboard is given by the equation SL = 83.5 – 8.2 log10 T for combined data from five different studies.
