Laminated members in boat construction, bridge timbers, docks, and poles are susceptible to severe decay. Treatment with preservatives is very effective in controlling such decay. There are practical reasons for treating the members before laminating. This paper describes the preparation of surfaces of treated wood for gluing as well as the gluing procedure. With such procedures, wood can now be used to make wood truck bodies, railroad ties, keel blocks, and other boat components. Research is still needed to reduce the loss of preservative when treated lumber is surfaced.
