Electing Section and Chapter Officers Individual Section and Chapter Bylaws vary regarding elections, but in each an orderly change of officers occurs annually. All election results should be reported in a timely manner to the International Office prior to the Society's Annual International Convention in June.
The International Office offers election services at no charge. These services include ballot preparation, printing, and first class mailing or electronic distribution of the ballot and a sheet of biographical information about the candidates to all voting members within the Section or Chapter. In accordance with the Forest Products Society Bylaws, Article 8, Section 3 and Article 9, Section 2, "all Section members shall be Voting or Student members of the Society." Sections and Chapters are responsible for informing candidates and members of election results.
It is critical to use an up-to-date list of members whenever mailings are sent. The International Office will fill label requests within one week of receipt of a phone call or e-mail request (phone: +1 855 475 0291 or firstname.lastname@example.org). Label formats include gummed labels or Excel files that are e-mailed to the requestor.
Current officers should review their Bylaws and agree on a timetable to ensure a timely nomination of officers, completion of a slate of candidates, and request for election services from the International Office.
